CHOREOGRAPHY FOR TWO MUSICIANS
BLACK BOX THEATRE, 2025
ROSENDAL THEATRE / DANSIT / TRONDHEIM JAZZ FESTIVAL, 2025
Choreography for Two Musicians is a work where sound and movement go hand in hand. Friendly chords are swung and lifted, dark sounds are circled, faint beats are sly and lured, loud bells are jogged and jumped, gentle interplay is hugged. Wave valleys and wave peaks glide into each other – a quiet, elongated valley gives birth to a loud and short-breathed peak.
Choreography for Two Musicians places itself within and builds upon several of choreographer Marie Bergby Handeland's works, such as Laying on of Hands (2022) where flutes playing moves in two levels, The fifty meters (2018), where instruments cycle in a large industrial hall, Six Moving Guitars ( 2019) by composer Fredrik Rasten, and The church Dancer (2020), where the audience dances alone to organ music.
